We're Craig and Amber DeMaere — Alberta-based real estate investors focused on acquiring and improving multifamily properties.
Our story
We tried a lot before focusing on multifamily.
We started in 2017 with single-family rentals and rent-to-own homes. From there we worked through duplex conversions, flips, agreements for sale, vendor take-back mortgages, joint ventures, ground-up construction, and corporate structuring.
Multifamily value-add is where we landed, and it's what we do now. We've since acquired and repositioned buildings across Alberta, modernizing them with renovated suites, keyless entry, security systems, tenant Wi-Fi, and in-suite laundry.

The team
Who you're working with
Craig DeMaere
Founder & Managing Partner
An electrical engineer by training, with over a decade of technical project experience, Craig brings an analytical approach to acquisitions, renovations and operations. He handles deal sourcing, underwriting, capital, construction, and the property management relationships across multiple cities, and hosts the quarterly Calgary investor meetup.
Amber DeMaere
Licensed Mortgage Broker, Mortgage Architects
Amber is a licensed mortgage broker in Alberta with Mortgage Architects. Her mortgage background gives us an inside understanding of lender requirements, underwriting and deal structure.
She co-hosts the quarterly Calgary investor meetup, and is usually the first person you'll meet at one.
Equity Empire Inc. is the operating company behind our portfolio. We work with our own renovation crews, professional property managers, lenders, lawyers, accountants and other specialists as needed.
We intentionally keep the business hands-on. If you invest in one of our projects, you'll know who you're working with and you'll hear from us regularly.
